I think it would make for a fabulous service in our county, what about you? There are many with cars who aren't using them, many without cars who need to get from place to place, and it offers a way to make some added income. What are your thoughts? (Yes, the crappy cell and internet service in Rapp Co may be a problem...)
“The concept is fairly seamless,” said Uber spokeswoman Kaitlin Durkosh. “You push a button and you get a ride, and we’ve also brought a new level of safety into getting from point A to point B. If you were in a bigger city, you might be outside by yourself and try to hail a taxi, but now with Uber you can wait inside your home or your apartment building.”
This might be very useful for Rappahannock.
One of the needs most often cited as critical for seniors who wish to continue living in the County is transportation. But the need for transportation is greater than just for seniors. There are a lot of kids at the high school who can't take advantage of extra-curricular activities because they have no access to any kind of transportation home. There are times after partying a bit when we realize we shouldn't be driving, and it would be beneficial (for everyone!) if an alternative transportation option was available. There are those households with only one car, where the ability to have a second set of wheels from time to time would be very helpful.
There are enough good reasons to suspect that Uber would not only be helpful here, but could thrive.
